We are a family from Brooklyn NY, who found themselves with a seventy-foot big rig.
How did this happen?
We have a son, named Luca, who was born with a cleft palate. Speech development was difficult for him. One day, he mimicked the sound of a firetruck, and we discovered Luca had a deep connection to trucks. Luca's fascination with trucks provided inspiration to develop his speech and language skills. As a family, we looked at trucks everywhere and chased them all around Brooklyn.
Luca and his father then started making Luca718kids trucker tee shirts for kids, and sold them at small, local shops in their Brooklyn neighborhood. Eventually, Luca and his papa saw a truck for sale. They looked at it just for fun.
Within a year, we bought our very own 1981 classic Kenworth.
In 2015, we took the Luca718 Rig a step further and purchased a 48 foot trailer and launched the non for profit Blocks, Trucks + Art educational program.
We did this out at Hayground Camp July & August 2015 by working with children around our 18-wheeler, aptly named Big Mama. Our Blocks, Trucks + Art Educational Program was a huge success with kids and parents. Luca718 is the merchandise line that helps support our Blocks, Trucks & Art program.
Keep on Truckin'!
